Sand Rover Challenge

Participants will build a wireless robot capable of carrying 500 grams of coarse aggregate across an uneven terrain while facing obstacles. The robot must complete the course with minimum loss of aggregate and in the shortest possible time.

Event Structure

• Round 1 (Elimination Round): Bots will traverse the arena carrying 500 grams of sand in a closed box.
• Round 2 (Final Round): Bots will carry 500 grams of sand with an open lid and tackle additional obstacles.

Arena Specifications

• Deep Sand: 250 cm × 40 cm
• Turning Box: 250 cm × 40 cm
• Stair: 250 cm × 40 cm
• Sea-saw: 250 cm × 40 cm

Robot Specifications

• Only wireless bots are permitted.
• Maximum battery voltage: 24V
• Maximum weight: 2 kg (excluding sand)
• Bot dimensions: 40 cm × 30 cm × 30 cm (L × B × H)
• Sand box dimensions: 10 cm × 10 cm × 5 cm (L × B × H), made of wood (min. 3mm thickness).
• Motors: No restriction on speed, but high torque motors recommended.

Judging Criteria

• Loss of Aggregate: Minimum loss earns higher points (0-30 points).
• Timing: Faster completion earns higher points (0-30 points).
• Bonus Points:
  • Sand loss ≤ 400g: +2 points
  • Sand loss ≤ 300g: +5 points
  • Obstacles:
    • Deep Sand: +6 points
    • Turning Box: +4 points
    • Stair: +6 points
    • Sea-saw: +4 points
